December 04 Trip to the Airport I am here to tell you what a wonderful time I had at the Mumbai international airport. The way to the airport was a curvy one. ;) diversions, newly built
lanes and roads all dug up. It gave us hope that the next time we come
to the airport we would feel like having arrived at a foreign destination. Somehow, the number of people present there to receive their beloved people, the alert security guards specially after the Taj and Oberoi incident, the highly expensive stalls put up and the newly built huge beautiful structure fills up the atmosphere making you feel all geared up. The hopes, expectations, anticipation of the receivers and the eager, long-awaited- look of those coming out of the exit door trying to find their loved ones amongst the crowd is worth a watch. I was there with my brother and hubby. We watched the people in uniform doing what they do best - serve. The air hostesses in their elegant suits walked their way out with their crew. We still had 30 min on hand before my aunt would come out from the very watched over door. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- right now have to go.. but can you guess what must have happened? will write back soon. December 01 The moment of truthQuote from Chandani's blog The moment of truth November 28 RefreshingSince the Last two days, Mumbai was facing a big challenge. I can feel the tension in the air. The atmosphere has gone cold, silent and clear.. not because the season is setting in but because there have been no recent traffic jams or people honking on the freeway. I breathe fresh air. Come to think of it we have become so used to the sounds that Silence hurts. It pains to listen to the clock tick when once it was sweet music to the ear. The planes are'nt flying that frequently and everybody is at home resting, blissfully enjoying the sudden, unexpected holiday in the week. When on regular holidays they are busy managing their family affairs and trying to give their time to family, children and thereby managing both professional and personal lives. So are our wordly worries and pains we are involved in really TRUE? REQUIRED? The other side of this coin is that the soldiers are giving it their best, putting their life in danger and having faith in themselves, in their team and their goal. Their family and worldly affairs at the back of their mind... Would we be able to do the same ever? Its not just their profession, not just their duty and not just their mission.. So what is ours? how do we become better citizens? November 14 LiesThose who never speak falsely can be secure and proud in the knowledge that they have done nothing to contribute to the confusion of the world, but have served as sources of illumination and clarification. They are totally free to be. Dont have to slink around in the shadows. Do not have to construct new lies to hide old ones. They need not waste effort covering tracks or maintain disguises. And ultimately find the energy for self-discipline which is far less than the energy required for secretiveness - Says M. Scott Peck in the "Road Less Travelled"..
Very impressive and a source to learn from. March 01 Think! "Knowledge is piling facts, Wisdom is simplifying them" - Shiv khera "You Can Win" Have been reading this book and this particular thought has kind of changed my perspective. Let me know if it does the same to you. :) January 02 Happy New Year![]() Wishing dear readers a very happy and a prosperous new year.. The past one year has been full of experiences both good and bad and have helped me learn, grow into a better individual. May the coming year strengthen our relationships, brighten our future and makes us achieve all that we strive for.Good luck and God Bless! Keep in touch, keep blogging. Farah. December 28 Technology Was having a talk with my husband, it was so true when he said that technology is developing every minute and getting more and more advanced, deeper and specific. Writing this blog entry makes me feel - gifted, blessed. Owning smart machines that work for you are great to have... they have their own disadvantages but who doesnt? Look! m using this brain in the form of computer to convey my thoughts to many. Earlier communication was so restricted, slow and painful (which we realise only after being spoilt by the comforts and luxories life brings along). I really enjoyed writing letters and posting them, getting the right stamps but the effortless, easy techniques of reaching to friends, family far away has made me get attracted and now m ADDICTED. Using my mobile phone to connect to the net, syncing it with my computer and keeping a day to day calendar record, to dos is now so easy... its become a paperless world for me, (now that handmade paper and books are so attractive and easily available:)). It was so easy to shift from the olden techniques to newer ways, m wondering why are we so addicted now that we can no longer go back... I know life is about moving ahead but why leave our roots. A kite cannot fly if its not attached to its string, a tree cannot grow fruits if it doesnt have a stem or roots... The point m coming to is that... are we on a baseless ground now? If tomorrow there will be no current, no computers, no charged mobiles we will be lost.. lost in the cave / ditch we have created ourselves.. So, are the farmers not enjoying the best of lives? Think about it. December 24 Life"experience is what one gets when the dont get what they want" :)

With so many things happening around life just does'nt seem like wanting 2 take a hault. In a way its great. I have heard so many people complaining about not having to do anything; atleast mine is different.
Got a new mobile device which is now kind of taking over my old love for nokia 6630. Ofcourse this one is more powerful and loaded with features that are going to make my life a lot easier. Let me introduce nokia E51. With using our LAN Network to reading out messages aloud and doing jobs on a voice command; my world is getting stored in this small device.
Apart from that have made up my mind to join yoga. Hopefully will enrich me further.
Politics has taken a new turn with the gujarat elections. M glad this time atleast the election commission was a little more participative.its nice to have fair elections.
Sometimes i think what would it be like to not have any political parties. On elections.just a body of government and good revised laws. I think we could still survive, actually not just survive but progress faster. Imagine our country running beyond the boundaries of curruption and communalism. Well cant just fantacise. There are NGO groups, social societies working towards similar goals. May be we can make a difference.
It will be an achievement for me if i can get this blog entry across coz m writing from my phone.
Have a great time untill we talk again.
December 05 Slow Dance Have you ever watched kids On a merry-go-round? Or listened to the rain Slapping on the ground? Ever found a butterfly's erratic flight? Or gazed at the sun into the fading night? You better slow down. Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last. Do you run through each day On the fly? When you ask "How are you?" Do you hear the reply? When the day is done Do you lie in your bed With the next hundred chores Running through your head? You better slow down. Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last. Ever told your child We'll do it tomorrow? And in your haste, Not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die Cause you never had time To call and say "Hi"? You better slow down. Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last. When you run so fast to get somewhere You miss half the fun of getting there. When you worry and hurry through your day, It's like an unopened gift..... Thrown away. Life's not a race. Do take it slower Hear the music Before the song's over. November 30 The Love Monument- Taj MahalLife's Experiences:Hey guys, last week I was in Delhi, the capital of India.. and was pretty impressed to see the infrastructure and working of the state. Since its the Central Govt operating there all the states of India have their offices set up in order to have the State and Central unite and communicate..One of the most impressive things to visit in Agra is the Taj Mahal built by Emperor Shah Jahaan for his beloved wife. Its a monument of love.. |

Floristry
or flower arranging is the art of creating bouquets and
compositions from flowers, foliages, herbs, ornamental grasses and
other botanical materials into floral designs.
Many
nations have their own distinctive traditions of flower
arrangement.Flower arrangement needs a lot of skill. These
include selecting flowers that will look good together (based on
principles of design or general instinct), knowing how to cut, treat,
and arrange flowers and other stock plants..so
they will remain fresh as long as possible, and selling them,
which involves knowledge of customer requirements and expectations.
The flowers sold in florist shops typically represent the varieties
abundantly available in the season but also include blossoms flown in
from around the world. Basic varieties include roses, tulips,
irises,lilies.
Flowers
have various different meanings in different cultures. The holidays
and events for which flowers are used vary. The cultural meaning of
colors also strongly affects the choice and use of flowers. People
often prefer flowers that are associated with their ethnic group or
country, and various colors may have special meanings of luck or
death or love or other basic human traits. A flower such as a red
rose might to some mean love, but to others it might be considered
indecent or simply puzzling. The vastly divergent views on the color
white can lead to major flower issues. White is viewed as standing
for death in many cultures but is considered a symbol of purity and
innocence in many cultures. Such differences can lead to difficult
issues when a bouquet of white lilies, for example, is delivered.
DID
You KNow - the various emotions roses associate with...
Blue: mystery
Burgundy: beauty
Dark Pink: gratitude
Light Pink: admiration, sympathy
Orange: passion
Pink: grace
Red: love
White: innocence, purity, secrecy, reverence and humility.
Yellow: dying love orplatonic love or infidelity
Seems
Complicated huh? It may not be so difficult if you know the cultures
and the people around.. specially in the place that you are staying
in. If I take up this then mostly my shop will be covered with all
kinds of yellow flowers.. I just cant seem to get over the yellow
flower fever.. there is a strong pull towards them...
yeah might clearly mislead somebody if they know what the colour
associates with.. LOL!
I came across this book when last week I attended this seminar on I.T and its future in India held by the Computer Society of India, Mumbai Chapter, organised by Aiesec.
The author describes the great changes taking place in our time, as lightning-swift advances in technology and communications put people all over the globe in touch as never before-creating an explosion of wealth in India and China, and challenging the rest of us to run even faster just to stay in place. He deals with the concept he calls " Flattening". This new era of globalisation has created a flat world: or vice-versa. A global, web enabled platform for multiple forms of sharing knowledge and work, irrespective of time, distance, geography and language, giving us a huge new stake in the success of globalization.
This book "The World is Flat" is amazing and a must read for those who want to know how the world got changed so fast. While most of us were sleeping, the great aspirers did their job well.. A very well thought and analysed content shared with us through this book. M still reading it and wondering what more surprises it has in store for me..
